EAGLEMUN Nonprofit Partner: Bridging Tech

In order to raise funds for Bridging Tech, delegates are encouraged to bring cash with them so that they can make purchases at the bake sale during lunch, the proceeds of which will be donated to this organization:

Bridging Tech is a technology-related 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that we chose to support through EAGLEMUN, as the topic of our conference is technology. Bridging Tech's mission is to bridge the digital divide and empower K-12 students affected by homelessness and housing insecurity in the U.S. by providing technology and educational opportunities. Bridging Tech was founded in California by two women at Stanford University, Isabel Wang and Margot Bellon.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the digital divide was only exacerbated as schools began to teach through online platforms. Many children without computers had trouble being included and engaged in remote schooling, and Bridging Tech wanted to help fix this issue. Bridging Tech provides students affected by homelessness and housing insecurity with computers to increase their access to education. They also have educational resources available for kids to use online.

Since 2020, Bridging Tech has donated 6,115 computers to housing-insecure students. Through their actions, Bridging Tech has helped decrease social inequities and addressed United Nations Sustainable Development Goals #1, 3, 4, 8, 10, and 16.
