What is EAGLEMUN?

EAGLEMUN II is a one-day international relations simulation for middle school school students, held on Brentwood School’s campus in Los Angeles. The primary purpose of this conference is to provide young delegates with an immersive experience in global affairs, diplomacy, and problem-solving within the framework of the United Nations.

This year, EAGLEMUN II seeks to engage middle schoolers in thoughtful discussions on the ethical, social, and technological implications of artificial intelligence (AI). Delegates attending this conference will have the unique opportunity to explore and debate key issues related to artificial intelligence, fostering critical thinking and diplomatic skills. By delving into the complexities of AI, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities this technology presents in the global landscape.

Delegates should attend EAGLEMUN II not only to hone their negotiation and public speaking abilities but also to develop a nuanced perspective on the role of AI in shaping the future. This specialized focus allows attendees to delve into cutting-edge topics, empowering them to become informed global citizens and future leaders capable of navigating the intricate intersections of technology and international relations. In essence, EAGLEMUN II offers a platform where young minds can grapple with the pressing issues of our time and contribute to meaningful dialogue on the responsible development and deployment of artificial intelligence.

Our Secretariat

Jordan Lari is currently a senior at Brentwood School and has been participating in Model UN since his freshman year. He is also the Chief of Design for the school newspaper and has been conducting research investigating the effects of caffeine on students' cardiovascular health. Jodan's favorite Model UN conference he attended was at Yale University, where he represented the United States in the United Nations Security Council. Jordan enjoys spending time with his family (most of all his dog), reading books, and listening to music.

Meghan Derby is a senior at Brentwood School who has participated in Model United Nations and competitive policy debate for four years. She also is the varsity soccer captain and loves to write for the school non-fiction magazine, Valhalla. Outside of Brentwood, she does research for political campaigns and volunteers for non-profit legal organizations. In her free time, she loves listening to music, doing crossword puzzles, and watching Chelsea games.

Tara Malhotra is currently in 11th grade and has been participating in Model United Nations for four years. Tara loves the leadership, public speaking, and negotiation opportunities that Model UN provides. The friends and experiences are priceless as well and have allowed Tara to broaden her perspectives on global issues. Outside of Model UN, Tara works as the Features Editor for Brentwood School's newspaper, participates in clubs like Student Council and various affinity groups, and plays varsity golf

Ally Song is currently a senior at Brentwood School and has been participating in Model UN for four years. Her favorite MUN experience has been representing Athens, Greece in the C40 Cities Committee at the Northwestern University Model UN Conference. Ally likes to explore new art mediums and styles, having already tried acrylic paint, oil paint, watercolor, ceramics, and stained glass so far! She is also interested in thriller action or romance novels and enjoys supporting sustainable fashion through thrifting clothes.

Angelina Lin is a junior at Brentwood School. She started Model United Nations in seventh grade and has enjoyed collaborating with delegates from around the world. Angelina is interested in science, environmental sustainability, and fashion. Angelina is a member of the Canadian National Team of Rhythmic Gymnastics and competes on the international stage.

Emily Yang is currently a sophomore. Her favorite MUN conference that she's attended is the Oui Sports Paris Olympics IOC crisis committee at Northwestern University. Some of the activities Emily enjoys besides MUN are choir, painting, and snowboarding. She also loves listening to music, her favorite genre being R&B. Emily is really excited to be a co-chair for the first EAGLEMUN SPECPOL conference and looking forward to meeting everyone.

Leyla Parsi is a senior who loves basketball and track. Her favorite show is Rick and Morty. Leyla enjoys participating in Model UN because it gives her many opportunities to learn about the world and international relations while strengthening her research and public speaking skills.

Ruby Albert is a sophomore at Brentwood, and this is her second year being involved in Model UN. Participating in Model UN conferences as a delegate has always been a great experience for Ruby and an opportunity to make new friends in new places. Ruby is very interested in computer science and medicine. Outside of school, she loves to scuba dive, and recently received her black belt.

As a sophomore at Brentwood, Addison (Addy) Juha has been involved in Model UN for two years now. Over the past few years, Addy has participated in many conferences, where she has gained various skills and made many friends. Outside of Model UN, Addy loves the beach, tennis, and spending time with friends. She is eager to meet all of you and hopes that your experience is filled with memorable moments, where you discover newfound skills!

Sadie Horowitz is currently a freshman at Brentwood and enjoys swimming, cooking, and reading books. In addition to doing Model UN, Sa am also on the varsity softball team and play soccer on a travel team outside of school. I’ve participated in Model UN since the sixth grade and it has taught me countless skills and taken me all over the world!

Sebastian Caron is a freshman at Brentwood School with a keen interest in political and computer science. He has participated in Model United Nations over the past 3 years and during that time had the opportunity to attend conferences around the world. Outside of school, he enjoys practicing martial arts, playing chess with his dad, and playing table tennis.

As a freshman at Brentwood, Max Drayer has been doing Model United Nations for three years and has learned a lot about debate and public speaking from his time in MUN. He is eager to provide new and experienced delegates alike with the same experiences he has had over the years and aims to make Brentwood School’s first EAGLEMUN a memorable one. Outside of MUN, Max loves to play baseball.
